We take you straight from our stables across some of the best riding country in the world, with over 400 miles of bridleway within Exmoor National Park; spectacular views on every ride, and varied tracks and hacks through woodland, moorland, river trails, and postcard villages. Our horses perhaps have a little more spark than most riding school or trekking horses for riders with some previous riding experience - we do ask that our riders can walk, trot and canter with some control.

We have four LOVELY horses for our visiting riders and our rides are limited from one, two or three riders at a time - no long crocodile of horses across the moor, and each rider very much in control of their own mount! own horse with stabling and b&b... riding quality horses with energy... sound horses who can can trot canter and gallop... exciting horses... half day rides with fun... full day rides with excitement... introduction to ridiing with excellent horses...

 

Rosie - a 15.1hh Section D Welsh Cob, with some spark, and quite a personality! She'll jump, keep up with the big boys, has good paces, and a really fast canter (for a cob!) Ideal for the sometimes rocky terrain on Exmoor. Maximum weight 12stone

 

Sirrus - 15.2hh thoroughbred with a little Irish draught, lovely smooth paces, a fast canter and will do anything for you. A keen jumper and a really pretty small horse, with heaps of potential. Max weight 12stone
Dandy - a 17.1hh Irish Draught x thoroughbred - with really good paces, forward going, a safe ride who enjoys life. He's hard to leave behind, and our riders fall in love with him instantly! Max weight 14stone

Archie - 16.3hh, 5 years old.  A lovely Irish Sports Horse, with a great deal of enthusiasm for life!  The latest addition to our stable, bringing youthfulness to our more mature horses.  He has livened life up around the yard!

     
Over 400 miles of well maintained bridleway over Exmoor National Park; situated within the National Trust Holnicote Estate.  You will be riding over moorland, woodland, rivers and combes; incredible views, and mild climate. 
Some wildlife you may expect to see will be red deer, Exmoor ponies (yes, they are indigenous and not domesticated, representing perhaps one of the oldest breeds of horse in the world, and rarer than the Giant Panda), buzzard, peregrine, kestrel, moorland birds, including skylark, sometimes lapwing, ravens, perhaps oystercatcher in the fields, heron, dipper, kingfisher, and woodland birds including flycatchers, AND woodpeckers, as well as fallow deer or roe buck.
 

 

 

 

ONE HOUR RIDES

from April to October through the woods and up the combes.  Ideal for novices.

£30 per person

HALF DAY RIDE - approx 2.5 hours

North Hill, Selworthy Woods, and as far as Minehead, or over Ley Hill, , through Horner Woods, Lucott Common, The countryside is endless, and riding trails offering weeks of good riding country. From our farm you can ride as far as you can see!

£50 per person

FULL DAY RIDE - approx 5 hours

wonderful riding over Porlock Hill, Nutscale Reservoir, Dunkery Beacon, Grabbist or Webbers Post, covering a distance of 20-25 miles.  Lunch included in price.

£100 per person

BED & BREAKFAST AND RIDING BREAKS

One night B&B, and half day ride: £75 per person in shared room.

One night B&B, full day ride including lunch: £125


 

STABLING

for your horses and excellent field grazing with natural stream. Large SAFE, airy stables, leading onto an enclosed yard, with good quality bedding and hay or haylage, and safe tack room.

We will help you look after your horses as well as we look after their riders! No cattle grids, no fast traffic.

Rates: £12 per horse per night including hay or grazing.


Conditions of riding: We can take novices on short rides only, but for longer half day rides all riders must be experienced, and be able to control a horse at walk, trot and canter.
There is no jumping in the Exmoor area.
Personal riding insurance
is recommended to ride with us.
Visit British Horse Society for details of membership and insurances offered for £51p.a.
All riders must wear the appropriate head protection to current BS standards, footwear and preferably jodhpurs.
Half chaps are available to borrow.
All 13-18 year old riders must use their own protective riding equipment and body protectors.
You will be required to complete a self appraisal form on your riding ability and experience prior to riding with us.
